St.Bernards v. Falkirk

Last Saturday the St.Bernards paid their second visit to Brockville Park this season and on this occasion Falkirk won by 4 goals to 3.

Both teams were without two of their full teams - Drummond and Barr being absent from Falkirk, and Methven and R.Foyer for the Saints.

The Saints won the toss, and agreed to play downhill, the wind at the time blowing across the field. The strangers early secured a corner from Rae, but it was kicked behind.

Falkirk were soon at the other end, where a grand chance of scoring was missed. However, a corner placed by Stark was headed under the bar by Daye - the first point being registered for Falkirk in fully five minutes.

Falkirk again got a corner, on the left this time, but the ball was cleared away, and Macgregor had to concede a similar advantage to the Saints at the other end, but it was again kicked behind.

From a rush up the field Falkirk got another corner. Ross placed it badly.

Up to half-time the game was well contested, McIntosh getting more work to do than Rae, and at half-time Falkirk led by 1 goal to nil.

In the second half fifteen minutes had gone ere any scoring took place, and then a shot by Bishop went past Rae off Liddle, and thus notched the first point for the Saints.

Two minutes later Bishop dropped in another shot, which went between Rae's hands and the crossbar.

Lowe followed with a third goal for the Saints - the game now standing 3 to 1 in the latter's favour.

Falkirk commenced to play harder, especially the right wing, and a centre by Ross glanced off the custodian's hand, just as Daye paid attention to him.

Falkirk soon made the game a draw from a shot by Stark, and Daye converted the game into a win by registering the fourth goal.

Mr McAuslane (East Stirlingshire) was referee.
